Enteroceles Repair Procedures are usually repaired through the vagina unless there is another health problem that would require an abdominal incision.
Enterocele Repair is where the pubocervical and rectovaginal fascia (supportive layers) are sewn together, repairing the vaginal hernia known as an Enterocele. Most patients who have done an Enterocele repair also need a vaginal vault suspension.
During the procedure, Dr. Prabhjot Manchanda will make an incision in the vaginal wall or abdomen to access the prolapsed small intestine. The weakened tissues supporting the pelvic organs are then repaired and reinforced, often using stitches or surgical mesh to provide additional support. The vaginal wall or abdominal incision is then closed, restoring the small intestine to its proper position.
Alleviates symptoms such as pelvic pressure, backache, and discomfort.
Restores normal function of the pelvic organs and improves quality of life.
Minimally invasive approach with relatively quick recovery time.
After the surgery, Dr. Manchanda and her team will provide detailed post-operative care instructions, including pain management, activity restrictions, and guidance on pelvic floor exercises to strengthen the supporting muscles. Patients will be monitored for any signs of complications and will have follow-up appointments to ensure proper healing and the success of the repair.
